Little Human

My parents say I'm acting more and more human every day. I've started to enjoy getting books read to me and getting into my sister's toys. I even look older.I love to do the bear walk. It's more challenging than a normal crawl and who doesn't love a challenge? We had friends over the other night. Kayla is a few months older than me. That's a big difference now, but it won't be after a while. She can do a lot of stuff that I can't do yet.We had our picture taken that night. It'll be fun to look back at this when Kayla and I go to the same schools.Mina put together my new high chair the other day. I can't wait until I get to eat some food!Toys just aren't as yummy. At least this one was made in China. ;)Daddy took me to his office to show me around. I took that opportunity to give him some snuggles.Yet another unsatisfactory meal.At least my sister entertains me.Mina can really get me laughing. The bugs were hiding yesterday so we played outside. Mommy held on to me while she took a bunch of pictures of Mina.Mommy let me try out the new rug in our "formal play room." Just what every house needs.I approved. It's crawl worthy. Mina likes to use it as a colors game and hops from one circle to the next.My parents worked on my nursery over the weekend. I finally have some stuff on my walls. My diapers are no longer in a basket on the floor. Can you believe this whole thing is full of diapers? Mommy has a problem.

Gaining Independence

I'm too cute. So is Mina, but you can definitely tell us apart in this picture. I have bigger eyes and a wider smile.Grandma Rullestad is nice and snuggly.I love to hang out with Mina. She's fun!I've been working hard at my yoga poses. What's this one? I thought it was froggy, but Mommy informed me that stretching to get a frog is not quite the same.I'm halfway between plank and downward dog in this one. Here I am in cobra.I also enjoy jumping around in the jumperoo. I move so quickly that Mommy has a hard time getting a picture of me.I got a lot of attention when my cousins Hailey and Macy came to play on Friday. Macy carried me all around the house and Mommy got a bit of a break. I fit just right on Macy's hip.We went over to Emmy and Jason's house to meet to see the fireworks on Friday. I wore my Kaboom jammies to celebrate. I got passed around because everyone wanted some baby snuggles. Uncle Matt held me during the fireworks while I kicked my legs and whipped my head around. I didn't fall asleep, but I was very happy.Mina fell asleep on the way home from fireworks. So did I.Have a great week, everybody! I know I will.

Crawling

I was able to get up on all fours last night and now I'm really making progress. I've been doing push-ups today (truly, just my hands and toes touch the ground). After the push-ups, I started squirming and crawling backwards about 6 feet. From there, I got up on all fours and managed to crawl a couple of feet before I got tired. Mommy is in for it. She keeps telling me to slow down, but I think I'm going to start climbing stairs and walking next week.

Pictures and/or video will be coming once my skills improve enough to catch it on camera.

Exercise

I've been working hard the last few days and improving my abilities. I can roll really well (even with my huge cloth diapers). I've even gotten the hang of rolling from my tummy to my back. I love to push up with my arms and can almost get on all fours. My pelvis definitely gets some air. I can also sit on my own reasonably well. My tummy works well as a pivot point so I can turn around in circles on the floor to get to all my different toys. This moving stuff is fun!Mommy tried to get a picture of me when I was really high in the air. This is the best she's gotten so far. This also shows off her favorite part of me. My chin! It's the cutest thing in the world. She loves it so much that I think she wants to eat it. That makes me giggle. Now that Mommy has a bigger kitchen, she has more room for me to keep her company. I love to sit on the counter and watch her work. She loves to take breaks to give me kisses and make me giggle. It's really a win, win situation. Can you tell I was good to Mommy last night? I slept from 8:30 until 4am, ate quickly, then slept until 8:45. I woke up happy as can be. Daddy brought me over to Nana and Papa's house (along with Mina) so now Mommy can blog in peace and get my room prettier. Some cool mirrors arrived today so I bet there will be something on my walls soon.

Daddy and Mommy are going to start their own exercise in a couple of days. They're going to do P90X together and get all tough and stuff. I can't wait to see their muscles!

On the Move

I've learned so much in the last couple of weeks. I started out by doing some halfhearted sky diving attempts. Soon after, I was rolling onto my belly every chance I got.Mommy brought me with her everywhere she went during the move so I got to snuggle in the big bed while we were surrounded by boxes. It was super fun having Mommy and Daddy all to myself.Once we got to the new house, I got to try out all sorts of new toys. The doorway jumper is fun.I prefer moving on my own though. I've learned to sit (sort of).I'm so proud of myself! It's very interesting to see the world from a different level.I caused my mother some grief during the move (starting with the nursing strike that occurred the week before the move officially began). One day while Mommy unpacked, I hung out with Grandma. She held me the whole day while I either slept or screamed. Fun times. I'm better now (except at bedtime sometimes, like while Mommy is attempting to blog). My teeth are sort of bothering me so Mommy let me suck on some ice. It was a hit.Now I can really push my arms and raise my head high. I'd love to be able to get up and crawl. My new crib is great too. It's so much prettier and more comfortable than the pack 'n play.Hello!Mommy has learned something new in the last couple of weeks too. She thought she was incapable of frying eggs without them turning out badly. It turns out that she just had a bad pan and stove and it's all better now. The simple things in life...The new/old toys just keep on getting pulled out in the new house. It's great!Mommy snuggled me up outside while we waited for Daddy to come home to us on Friday. Serious business.Grandpa spent a bunch of evenings with us and he knows just how I like to be held. Haha!So that's my update. I can roll, sit, laugh, and cause people grief occasionally. Plus, I'm cute.

This would have been a happier blog entry if Mommy hadn't had to listen to me yell at her or Daddy the whole time she was typing. Ugh.
